The flooring you have in your home or business can make it look wonderful, or it can make all your efforts seem useless. Flooring is meant to last for years so you want to make sure you trust your flooring to people who both know what they are doing and take pride in a job well done. You can have the most expensive flooring material on hand but if the installer doesn't know what they are doing. The top three floor installers are Lowe's, Home Depot, and Sears. Keep reading to learn more about choosing the best floor installation companies, so you can choose one that's right for your flooring needs.
Sears and Home Depot actually have floor installers. The Home Depot works with selected independent installers to take care of the actual installation. In all cases, all three businesses are familiar with the people that are doing the actual installation.
Lowe's hires independent installers who are licensed and insured. The Home Depot hires only installers who are licensed, insured, and given complete background checks. Sears lists that their installers are licensed but does not say if they do background checks.
All three offer financing options to help customers afford everything from the purchase of the flooring material through the installation. Sears states that you can get up to twelve months to pay for your project, while the other two are simply based on credit eligibility and don't specify a time period. The Home Depot offers several financing options.
What type of guarantee are we looking at?
The Home Depot doesn't list any labor guarantees but that is likely to be covered by the independent installers. Lowe's offers a one year guarantee on all labor. Sears guarantees their labor and up to 25 years on the durability of its flooring products.
Sears will move items and so will the Home Depot. The Home Depot does state they won't be able to move grandfather clocks, pianos, pet trees, heirlooms, and electronics but they will move the major furnishings. Sears does not make it clear what they are willing to move and what they won't.
Sears offers a five percent discount on all their home improvement projects to military members and first responders. Sears will also have a home consultant come into your home in advance to help you understand what your flooring options are and which ones will best suit your lifestyle and budget. Finally, Sears will assign a project manager to you that will follow the project from the first contact until the job is complete. Lowe's will have someone come into your home to do the actual measuring so you don't have to worry about ordering the correct amount of materials. The Home Depot makes every attempt to have your new flooring installed within 72 hours after the choice has been made and paid for.
Both Lowe's and Home Depot are trained and willing to install hardwood floors. Sears does not offer this particular service. All of them do offer carpeting, vinyl, and laminate installation.
Sears is the only one that will send a consultant into your home. The other two have home planners you can talk with at the store or online. Lowe's and Home Depot both offer measuring services.
