The 2019 Subaru Forester is a total redesign of the previous model while still retaining (and in some cases, enhancing) all the great features that has made the Forester a favorite among consumers over the past decade. Now with increased cargo space and a more powerful 2.5 liter engine, the new Forester also comes with more space for passengers and a new sport trim option. Perhaps most notably of all, however, the the EyeSight driver assist technology that only came with the higher trims of previous years is now standard on every 2019 Subaru Forester. So, how does one find a great deal on this year's model? There are multiple options, but the best deals are not always easy to find. Here are the questions that should be asked.
Buyers won't know they're getting a good deal without first knowing what the Forester is being listed for on average. The starting MSRP with the base trim level is $24,295, and of course it only goes up from here. The Premium trim starts at $26,695, the Sport trim at $28,795, the Limited trim at $30,795 and last but not least, the Touring trim at $34,295.
Because these are generally reserved for the most fuel-efficient vehicles, there are no tax incentives or rebates listed for the 2019 Subaru Forester at this time. While the fuel economy on this vehicle is slightly above average for small crossover SUVs, no hybrid or electric version is currently available in North American markets. Nevertheless, for consumers who are more flexible there are tax incentives available for other Subaru models that do come in hybrids.
Eligible members of the U.S. Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy Coast Guard and National Guard may receive up to $500 toward the purchase of a new 2019 Subaru Forester. This deal also applies to members of the reserve forces. Veterans and retirees with an honorable discharge who are within 12 months of their military separation date may also be eligible for this deal.
While Subaru does not offer general student discounts, participating dealerships do offer the College Graduate Incentives Program. Meant for recent and soon-to-be college graduates (usually those who have graduated within the past year and can present proof, such as a valid transcript or degree), the program offers leases and financing at special low rates, usually at no more than $300 a month. Some dealerships may also offer up to $500 towards a new 2019 Subaru.
Subaru is currently offering special 3.49 percent APR financing at its dealerships nationwide for consumers who wish to finance the 2019 Forester. This deal is of course subject to credit approval, and the terms may vary slightly between dealership locations. The catch here is that this deal is only available until January 31 of this year, although if past trends are followed, there's reason to believe that this financing deal will be only slightly adjusted and then re-offered throughout the rest of the year.
Like the financing deal, there is a lease deal that is available to customers who sign during the month of January. Offered at participating dealerships nationwide, this deal offers the standard 2019 model to consumers for 36 months at $265 per month. There is no security deposit required, though participants will owe $1,765 cash due upon signing.
