The new Ram trucks get a new top-level trim for the new model year. There is also a new mid-level trim, and rearview cameras are now standard equipment. The truck's infotainment system has also been updated.
Ram trucks used to be build under the Dodge brand. Five years ago, though, Chrysler split Ram into its own separate brand. It is now wildly successful. When someone mentions Dodge Ram trucks, what they're referring to are the Ram 1500, Ram 2500 and Ram 3500.
The new 2018 Ramm trucks are available in 11 trims: Tradesman, Express, Big Horn/Lone Star, Sport, Night, Harvest, Lone Star Silver, Laramie, Rebel, Laramie Longhorn and Limited.
The Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 can be ordered in regular, quad and crew cab configurations. The regular cab has two doors and seats three, the quad cab has four doors and seats six, and the crew cab has four doors and also seats six but with greater comfort. The regular cab can be ordered with an extended 8-foot truck bed.
The Tradesman and Express trims are made for the work site and have very few frills. The Big Horn trim -- called the Lone Star trim in Texas -- adds more driver-friendly features such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8.4-inch touchscreen and more. The Laramie trim is similar to the Big Horn, adding ventilated seats, wood interior trim, heated front seats and more.
The Harvest is an all-new trim for 2018. This trim features additional ground clearance, available custom colors, skid plates with tow hooks, chrome bumpers and more.
The newest Ram trucks can be ordered in the Limited and Rebel trims. The Limited gets the best features of the previous trim levels while adding automatic high beams, custom leather upholstery, an air suspension, side-step bars and more. The Rebel is equipped with numerous offroad-friendly features such as all-terrain tires, Bilstein shock absorbers, tow hooks and more.
The new Ram trucks come standard with a 3.6-liter V6 that pumps out 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. The Rebel, Laramie Longhorn and Limited trims come with 5.7-liter V8 engines that pump out 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. There is also an available 3.0-liter diesel V6 that makes 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque.
