Most SUV's are built on a car frame and designed for comfort. The 2017 Toyota 4Runner is unique in that it is built specifically for off-road adventure. With that in mind, it is built on a truck frame and has all the ruggedness you would expect from a truck. The SRS models have cloth seats, back up camera, keyless entry and power outlets. The TRD Off Road adds locking rear differential, wider wheels and Crawl Control. The premium levels of SR5 and TRD get heated outside mirrors, vinyl seating, built in navigation and auto dimming mirrors. The TRD Pro is for the serious off road driver, with additional front springs, dampers, special Grappler tires and a front skid plate. The Limited is the top of the line, and gets a special differential package that makes it better for highway use. It has 20 inch wheels, a sunroof, dual climate control and leather seats.
All 4Runners have a 4.0 liter V6 engine that has 270 horsepower and 278 feet of torque. All 4Runners also have a five speed automatic transmission. SRS and Limited are available as rear wheel drive or 4X4. All other trim levels are 4X4 configurations.
The 4Runner is legendary for its off road capabilities, It will go just about anywhere. It will get to 60 miles per hour in 7.5 seconds, and to 100 miles per hour in 21 seconds. It will do a standing quarter mile in 15.9 seconds, which is 89 miles per hour. Its top speed rating is 115 miles per hour. It will stop from 70 miles per hour in 187 feet. The 4Runner gets 17 miles to the gallon combined highway and city driving. It is rated to tow 5,200 pounds.
