The trim levels of the Continental have names that sound top-shelf and include the base Continental Premiere, the Select, Reserve, and Black Label. Each trim level adds a little something than the one before it and the Reserve has available options not found on the other Continental trim levels.
The Continental Premier and Select are powered by a 3.7-liter V6 that produces 305 horsepower and 280-pound feet of torque. Mated to a shiftable six-speed automatic transmission, it drives the front wheels and is available with all-wheel drive. Standard power for the Continental Reserve and Black Label is a twin-turbo, 2.7-liter V6 that produces 335 horsepower, and 380-pound feet of torque. It couples to the same six-speed gearbox as the 3.7-liter power plant in either front wheel or optional all-wheel drive. There is one other engine option and it is exclusive to the 2017 Lincoln Continental Reserve.
A couple of features are exclusive to the Continental Reserve and the first one is the available twin-turbo, 3.0-liter V6. Turning out 400 horsepower and 400-pound feet of torque, it has plenty of power on tap that drives all four wheels. An available torque vectoring system is available on the Continental Reserve, offering a powerful, sure-footed, sedan that can eat up highway miles in total comfort.
All three engines are beefy and push the Lincoln around, nicely. The optional twin-turbo, 3.0-liter V6, available on the Reserve model, with all wheel drive, places the Lincoln Continental solidly with the contenders in the large luxury sedan niche.
